When the stump ripper boom excavator is operating normally, its sound only has a uniform exhaust sound and a slight noise, which has a certain regularity. There are fitting tolerances within the normal range between the various parts in the diesel engine. When the fitting tolerance exceeds the normal range due to excessive wear or improper maintenance, abnormal noise will appear.

1. The piston knocks on the cylinder. Piston knocking is a common source of abnormal noise. Due to poor lubrication conditions, the piston and the cylinder wall are excessively worn, causing the clearance fit tolerance between the piston and the cylinder wall to exceed the normal range. When the engine is running, the piston skirt collides with the cylinder wall, resulting in "crash". The crisp sound of "dang" is generally more pronounced when running at idle or low speed.

2. Timing gear. After long-term use of gears, coupled with improper gear gap adjustment, poor lubrication conditions, etc., excessive wear will occur. In severe cases, the gear teeth may be worn out, and the meshing between the gears will become loose. "Wow" sound.

3. Abnormal noise of the piston pin. Due to excessive wear of the parts, the clearance between the piston pin and the connecting rod bushing is too large, the clearance between the connecting rod bushing and the small end bearing of the connecting rod is loose, and the clearance between the piston pin and the pin seat hole of the piston is too large. The piston oscillates during the movement and collides with the cylinder wall, causing abnormal noise.

4. Abnormal sound of bearing. The bearings here include connecting rod bearings, crankshaft bearings and cam bearings. Due to excessive wear or improper maintenance, the bearing clearance increases or the bearing bushes are loosened, and the parts are loosened during the operation of the mechanism, causing abnormal impact noise.

5. Abnormal valve noise. Due to excessive wear of the tappet and stump ripper boom or the loosening of related screws, the valve clearance increases, and the rocker arm and the tappet collide, causing abnormal noise. In addition, the increase in valve clearance will cause insufficient intake and exhaust of the engine, lower output power, and increase fuel consumption.

6. In addition, abnormal combustion of fuel may also cause abnormal noise. The more common ones are due to improper adjustment or loosening of the adjustment screw, abnormal fuel supply advance angle of the fuel injection pump, too early or too late fuel injection time, resulting in abnormal fuel combustion and knocking sound in the cylinder.
