In some specific environments, how should we better protect our long reach front excavator? Let's take a look with the editor below!
1. Muddy ground, rainy or snowy weather
After operating the long reach front excavator in muddy ground, rainy or snowy weather, the following maintenance should be paid attention to.
Clean the long front boom excavator and check for broken, damaged, loose or missing nuts and bolts. Lubricate all necessary parts without delay.
2. By the sea
When the long reach front excavator is operating in the sea or on the coastline, the following measures must be taken to prevent sea salt pollution.
(1) After finishing the work, let the hydraulic cylinder extend/retract several times to form an oil film on the hydraulic lever. When the excavator is stored, retract the hydraulic cylinder as much as possible.
(2) Thoroughly wash the excavator with clean water to wash away the salt.
(3) For the insertion parts of the hose joints, lubrication pipes and caps, paint regularly to prevent rust, because these places are prone to sea water.
(4) When storing the long reach front excavator, cover the machine with a protective cover to prevent sea water from entering the vent of the cab. Anti-rust oil should be applied to the electroplating part of the hydraulic cylinder rod.
3. Dusty environment
Air filter: Clean the filter element regularly with short maintenance intervals.
Radiator: Clean the oil cooler mesh cover to avoid blockage of the radiator core.
Fuel system: Clean the filter element and filter screen regularly with short maintenance intervals.
Engine and muffler: Clean up earlier than the normal maintenance interval to prevent dust from sticking and accumulating.
4. Rocky places
Track: Operate carefully. Check frequently for broken, damaged and missing nuts and bolts. Relax the track a little bit more than usual.
Front-end accessories: When digging on rocky ground, standard accessories may be damaged. Reinforce the bucket or use a heavy-duty bucket before use.
5. Rockfall
Cab roof: Install the cab roof to prevent the long reach front excavator from being damaged by falling rocks.
6. Frozen weather
Fuel/grease: Use high-quality and low-viscosity fuel and oil.
Engine coolant: be sure to use antifreeze.
Battery: Fully charge the battery at intervals. If it is not fully charged, the electrolyte may freeze.
Track: Keep the track clean. Park the machine on a solid ground to prevent the track from freezing on the ground.
